  Samuel came from Shelby County, Tennessee to Texas, and died in Houston County, Sept. 28 1840, soon afterwards, He had been preceded by his brother-in-law, John Criswell, son-in-law James Card, and his wife's brother-in-law, Abraham W, McMahon. His eldest son, William Brayn Anderson, recieved an unconditional certifiacte for 640 acres from the Liberty County land commissioners in 1839. Another son, John Henry Anderson, married Mary Jane Rhoads and settled in Liberty County. Samuel was a farmer. He had served in the War of 1812 at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend. He was born Sept 16, 1781, in Sullivan County, Tennessee, son of William Anderson and Susannah G. Criswell, by John Yancey, J.P.
