Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Nina was born March 13, 1917, in Coryell County, to Lee Alexander Brownlow and Minnie Pearl Kidd Brownlow. She was raised in Waco and graduated from Waco High School in 1935. She married Woodrow Henry Stroud, and her only child, Woodliff Harvard "Woody" Stroud, was born. Nina would later meet and marry the love of her life, James Lawrence Monroe, July 15, 1966. They spent the majority of their married years in the Lorena area. Nina remained in the Lorena community after her husband's death Oct. 15, 2003. She remained independent and continued to maintain their family home. Nina worked for George's Chef in Waco, later known as Surf & Sirloin for 30 years. She created lifelong friends and relationships while working there. Later, she acquired vocational training in the clerical field and worked for the Waco Independent School District in the transportation office and for the Retail Grocer's Association. Nina worked well into her nineties with Sam's Club in Bellmead. She performed food demonstrations and was proud to be called a 'DEMO' girl. She was an energetic go-getter. She loved working and interacting with her co-workers and the public. She would often mention, "It keeps me going." Her love of working was no comparison to the love of her family. Her husband, son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very much a center of her life. She introduced her grandchildren to fishing and swimming. She thought it very important to "Keep Moving." Nina loved to travel with her family. She would often travel with her son, Woody, and daughter-in-law, Sandy, to such places as New Braunsfel and Corpus Christi. She would also travel to Arkansas to see her granddaughter and great grandchildren. It was no surprise that with girlfriends, she would grab a tour bus to an impromptu destination, whether to tromp a simple blue-bonnet patch or to see other exciting places. San Antonio had become her newest travel location. She would visit her youngest grandchild and her two newest great-grandchildren. Nina's grandchildren and great-grandchildren will remember their Granny's love of swimming, fishing, the smell of Baby Magic lotion, outings to the YWCA, and simple weekend routines to the laundry-mat and the H.E.B. Her friends will remember her joyous smile, infectious personality, and the secrets that only lifelong friends can share. Nina loved the Lord and attended Central United Methodist Church in Waco. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and three sisters, Alice Mae Mills, Alma McKee, Mary Lou Reynolds. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Woody Stroud and wife, Sandy, of Waco; granddaughters, Shelli Stroud Cross and husband, William, of El Dorado, Ark., and Kelly Macdonald and husband, John, of China Spring; grandson, Stephen Stroud and wife, Emily, of San Antonio; great-grandchildren, Morgan and Robert Cross of El Dorado, Kellsy and Kris Macdonald of China Spring, and Aidan and Dean Stroud of San Antonio; and nephew, William 'Bo' Whitlock of Corpus Christi. 740 | Nancy Angeline Jeter Hunter was a daughter of James J. Jeter (b.1795 SC d.1870s Hopkins Co., TX) and Nancy L. Caswell (b.1804-1807 GA d.1860-1864 Hopkins Co., TX)(place of burial unknown). She married Henry Jesse Hunter April 4, 1850 in Union Co., Arkansas. Henry and Nancy Angeline moved to Marion, Union Co., Louisiana about 1855-57. In 1862, Henry enlisted in the 25th Louisiana Infantry of the Confederate Army, along with his wife's brothers. Nancy Angeline's father went to Hopkins County, Texas before the end of the Civil War. It is possible that Nancy Angeline went with him. Henry Hunter appears on an 1867 tax list in Sulphur Springs, Hopkins County, on which he states he had been there two years. By 1870, Henry and Nancy Angeline had moved to Titus County, Texas; and by 1880, they had moved to McLennan County, Texas. Henry Jesse Hunter died January 28, 1885 in McLennan County (place of burial not known). Do not know where Nancy Angeline lived from 1885 to 1900; but from 1900 to 1920, she lived with her son John R. Hunter in Van Zandt County, Texas. Their address was Route 3, Mabank. During her last years, she lived with her granddaughter Annie Hargrove in Oklahoma City, where she died on Jan. 20, 1929. Nancy Angeline lost four children shortly before her own death: Nancy Ann Martin d.1925, Elizabeth Ann Jones d.1926, John Robert Hunter d.1927, and Thos. E. Hunter d.1928. A son J.S. Hunter (b.1851) disappears after the 1860 census. A daughter Mary L. (b.1873) either died or married after 1880. 1/21/1929 DEATHS AND FUNERALS (Monday) --Nancy A. 745 | Newton C. Naylor was the son of Robert H. and Nancy (Baker) Naylor. He was born about 1828, most likely in Gwinnett County, Georgia, where his father was enumerated on the 1830 census. By 1834 the family was living in Forsyth County, Georgia, when they appear there on a state census. Newton is listed as age 21, living in his father's household, on the 1850 census. Since his first child was born about 1852 it is believed that he married Sarah Williams in 1850/51, though a marriage record has not been located. He does appear as the head of a household paying taxes in Forsyth County in 1853. In 1860 Newton and Sarah Naylor were living in Walker County, Georgia, with three children: Robert, Adeline, and Franklin. During the Civil War Newton served in Company G, 56th Georgia Infantry, CSA, as did his younger brother, Robert D. Naylor. In 1867 he appears in the Returns of Qualified Voters and Reconstruction Oath Book in Walker County. By 1870 the family had moved to Conway County, Arkansas, where he appears on the census near his parents and several siblings. The area where Newton's family lived became part of Faulkner County, Arkansas, in 1873. The community of Naylor was established (his brother Robert was the 1st postmaster) and the township where it was located was named "Newton", presumably for Newton C. Naylor as he owned land here. This township was not thoroughly canvased in the 1880 census. There are several members of the extended family that do not appear on the census but should be there. Some of Newton's children appear to begin moving westward in the 1880s. It is believed that Newton and Sarah may have been in the lead or at least following their children. It is not known if Newton died while still in Faulkner County, neighboring Conway County, or in Indian Territory (Oklahoma), but his widow Sarah appears on the 1900 census in the Choctaw Nation of Indian Territory with her youngest son, John. Newton probably died between 1880 and 1900. Newton and Sarah were the parents of: Robert H. Naylor (c1852-1890s) Adeline Naylor (c1855-bef 1870) Franklin Naylor (c1859-bef 1900) Whitaker A. Naylor (1861-1931) Jeanette Naylor (c1865- ?? ) Newton Christopher Naylor (1867-1945) Martha Naylor (c1870- ?? ) John Landrum Naylor (1872-1958) | Naylor, Newton Christopher (I10893)

749 | Note: He married Ester Edmunds on an estimated date of 1740. Ester was born on an estimated date of 1715. There are several revolutary war soldiers in this generation and the DAR has documentation. [Research note: Believe Henry Jacob Holland and Jacob Holland to be the same person. One researcher had Henry Jacob Holland married to Sally Holland and a more complete line had Jacob Holland married to Mary Harrison. Both lines had the same children with several added to the lines which I kept. Additional research needed 10-15-96] | Holland, Joseph Spivey (I1263)
