    Brook Cary was the son of Francis M. and Elizabeth Cary, both of Alabama. Elizabeth's maiden name might have been Lewis. Brook was born in Arkansas in 1850, possibly on January 21. In Nov. 1850 his family lived in Marion, Ouachita County, Arkansas; thus, Brook might have been born there. By 1860 the family was in Newton, Jasper County, Texas; and by 1870 they were in Gatesville, Coryell County, Texas. Brook married Anna Bell Carter on 12-23-1873 in McLennan County. Brook and Bell lived in both Bell and McLennan Counties before moving to Van Zandt County in the late 1890s. Their children: Pearl, Vada, Everette Franklin, Wade, Bessie, Elmer, Leatha, and Ruby.

    NOTE: Brook's name appears as Francis Brook Cary on his marriage record, as Francis B. Cary on the 1850 census, and as Francis Cary on the 1860 census. In the 1890-91 Waco City Directory, he is Frank B. Carey. On the 1880 and 1900 census, he is listed as Brook Cary.

    Francis married Anna Bell Carter on 23 Dec 1873 in Waco, McLennan County Texas. Her parents home. Anna (daughter of James Carter and Salina Roxanna Dean) was born in Oct 1854 in Webberville, Travis County, Texas; died in 1925 in Van Zandt County, Texas; was buried in Old Bethel Cemetery, Canton, Van Zandt, Texas, United States.     Thomas was the son of Brook Cary and his wife, Anna Bell Carter.

    Thomas married Ollie E. Murphrey on 15 Feb 1893 in Van Zandt County, Texas. They had three children.

    Note: I may have the parents wrong. The 1900 Van Zandt County, Texas census lists the parents as Brook Cary (born: July 1849 in Texas); Sallie A. (born: Oct. 1854 in Tennessee) and children: Wade T. (born: June 1882 in Texas), Elmer (born: Sept. 1885 in Texas), Letha (born: March 1891 in Texas) and Rubie (born: Nov. 1892 in Texas).

    A couple of the family trees on ancestry.com list his mother's name as Sallie (Anna Belle)Vedell Cary. If anyone knows if I have this son with the correct or incorrect parents, please let me know so I can make the corrections.
