    DSP: Died without children
Title (Facts Page): 1718, 5th Baron created Viscount Tyrconnel and Baron Charleville
    Title (Facts Page)-1: K.B. 1725

The album - in an early ?eighteenth century binding - carries the bookplate of Sir John Brownlow, 5th Bt, Viscount Tyrconnel (1690-1754). Brownlow was created Viscount Tyrconnel and Baron Charleville in 1718 but this Irish title did not prevent him from continuing to represent Grantham and Lincolnshire in Parliament, as he had done since 1712, until 1741. It was a long and (in the eyes of his contemporaries) rather ineffective political career in the Whig interest. He had married his cousin Eleanor Brownlow (1691-1730) in 1712, and they lived in London and Somerset until 1721 when Eleanor's mother Lady Alice Brownlow died. Belton House, which had been built by Lady Alice's husband Sir John Brownlow, 3rd Bt (1659-1697), now became the Tyrconnels' main residence.

Sir John Brownlow, 1st and last Viscount Tyrconnel was born on 16 November 1690 at Humby, Lincolnshire, England.2 He was the son of Sir William Brownlow, 4th Bt. and Dorothy Mason.1 He married, firstly, Eleanor Brownlow, daughter of Sir John Brownlow, 3rd Bt. and Alice Sherard.1 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Cartwright, daughter of William Cartwright, on 24 January 1731/32 at Marnham, Nottinghamshire, England.3 He died on 27 February 1754 at age 63 at Belton, Lincolnshire, England, without issue.3 He died intestate and his estate was administered on 1 February 1755.3
Sir John Brownlow, 1st and last Viscount Tyrconnel succeeded to the title of 5th Baronet Brownlow, of Humby, co. Lincoln [E., 1641] on 6 March 1700/1.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Grantham between 1713 and 1715.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lincolnshire between 1715 and 1722.1 He was created 1st Baron Charleville, co. Cork [Ireland] on 23 June 1718.1 He was created 1st Viscount Tyrconnel [Ireland] on 23 June 1718.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Grantham between 1722 and 1741.1 He was invested as a Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) on 27 May 1725.3
On his death, all of his titles expired.1
