    Billie Gene "Bill" Mirick, 92, of Fort Worth formally of Lorena, passed away, Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at home surrounded by family. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 17, 2018, at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, with Reverend Wayne Blackshear officiating, visitation will begin one hour to service in the Mausoleum Chapel, interment will follow at Waco Memorial Park.

    Bill was born, December 8, 1925, to the late Eugene and Annie Mirick. He attended Lorena High School where he excelled in football and basketball.

    He proudly served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Merchant Marines serving on the ship, SS Marina Raskova. He was honorably discharged June 20, 1945. Upon returning from serving his country, he worked alongside his father for the Katy Railroad. He then worked for Owens Illinois Glass in Waco. Bill and his wife owned Hewitt Grocery and Mirick Trenching Company.

    One of Bill's greatest pleasures was dove hunting with his brother-in-law, Billy Blanton. He also enjoyed bass fishing a Lake Whitney and deer hunting in Johnson City. One of his favorite hobbies was working in his woodshop making different items for family and friends. He also raised Brahman cattle which he sold for show stock.

    Bill fell in love and married Jean Blanton, February 28, 1945. They had three children, Mike, Pat and Carolyn.

    He is survived by his wife, Jean Blanton; children, Mike and wife, Gayle Mirick, Pat and husband, Lynn Parnell, and Carolyn Kelly; grandchildren, Michael Mirick, Jr., Kristine Stephens, Tammy Graham, Jennifer Fitzgearld, Kevin Parnell and eleven great-grandchildren.

    Jean Mirick, 95, of Fort Worth formerly of Hewitt, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2021 peacefully at home. Jean was born November 16, 1925 to the late Rhea and Electa Blanton. She attended both Hewitt and Lorena Schools. Jean worked several years for Sears & Roebuck in Waco. She and Bill also owned Hewitt Grocery and a clothing store in Hewitt.

    One of Jean’s greatest pleasures was being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and times spent at Lake Whitney with family. Jean also enjoyed traveling with Bill showing Brahman Cattle.

    Jean married her high school sweetheart, Bill, on February 28, 1945. They had three children, Mike, Pat and Carolyn.

    She is survived by son, Mike Mirick and wife, Gayle of Round Rock; daughter Pat and husband, Lynn Parnell of Granbury and daughter Carolyn Kelly of Ft. Worth; grandchildren, Michael Mirick, Jr., Kristine Stephens, Tammy Graham, Jennifer Fitzgerald, Kevin Parnell and 8 great-grandchildren, Hunter, Aidan, Marissa, Dillon, Luke, Noah, Emma and Kate.

Like four of her older brothers and sisters., she accompanied her parent on their move from Tennessee to Milam County, Texas in 1877 and was still living with them at the time if the 1880 Texas census. On September 24, 1882, Jennie married Everett Miriam Mirick. Everett had been born in Boone County, Kentucky in July 1860. At the time of the census in the year 1900 Jennie and Everett resided in Falls County, Texas. Everett died in 1916, while Jennie passed away on April 1, 1923, probably in Falls County.

    E. VIRGINIA SUDBURY ("Jennie") was born in Dyer County, Tennessee, in 1863
    or 1864. Like four of her older brothers and sisters, she accompanied her parents
    on their move from Tennessee to Milam County, Texas in 1877. She is listed as
    living with her parents at age 16 in the 1880 Texas census. On September 24,
    1882, Jennie married EVERETT 1VDRIAM MIRICK. Everett had been born in
    Boone County, Kentucky in July 1860. At the time of the census in the year 1900,
    Jennie and Everett resided in Falls County, Texas. Everett died in 1916, while
    Jennie passed away on April 1, 1923, probably in Falls County.
