  1. 2.  Newton Christopher Naylor was born in 1828 (son of Roberet H Naylor and Nancy Baker).

    Notes:

Newton C. Naylor was the son of Robert H. and Nancy (Baker) Naylor. He was born about 1828, most likely in Gwinnett County, Georgia, where his father was enumerated on the 1830 census. By 1834 the family was living in Forsyth County, Georgia, when they appear there on a state census. Newton is listed as age 21, living in his father's household, on the 1850 census. Since his first child was born about 1852 it is believed that he married Sarah Williams in 1850/51, though a marriage record has not been located. He does appear as the head of a household paying taxes in Forsyth County in 1853.

In 1860 Newton and Sarah Naylor were living in Walker County, Georgia, with three children: Robert, Adeline, and Franklin. During the Civil War Newton served in Company G, 56th Georgia Infantry, CSA, as did his younger brother, Robert D. Naylor. In 1867 he appears in the Returns of Qualified Voters and Reconstruction Oath Book in Walker County. By 1870 the family had moved to Conway County, Arkansas, where he appears on the census near his parents and several siblings.

The area where Newton's family lived became part of Faulkner County, Arkansas, in 1873. The community of Naylor was established (his brother Robert was the 1st postmaster) and the township where it was located was named "Newton", presumably for Newton C. Naylor as he owned land here. This township was not thoroughly canvased in the 1880 census. There are several members of the extended family that do not appear on the census but should be there.

Some of Newton's children appear to begin moving westward in the 1880s. It is believed that Newton and Sarah may have been in the lead or at least following their children. It is not known if Newton died while still in Faulkner County, neighboring Conway County, or in Indian Territory (Oklahoma), but his widow Sarah appears on the 1900 census in the Choctaw Nation of Indian Territory with her youngest son, John. Newton probably died between 1880 and 1900.

    Robert H. Naylor (c1852-1890s)

Robert was the son of Dixon and Mary (Carpenter) Naylor. He was born about 1804, probably in Franklin County, Georgia, and lived most of his life in Forsyth County, Georgia. He married Nancy Baker. He died in 1875 in Faulkner County, Arkansas, and is possibly buried in Sharon Cemetery near the Naylor community.

Some researchers erroneously believe his middle name was Dixon because of incorrect info in his son Robert Dixon's 1911 Confederate Veterans' Questionaire. In several other records Robert's middle initial is consistently "H". Plus, Robert already had an older brother named Dixon so it is unlikely that his parents would have named two children using that name.

Robert and Nancy were the parents of:
    Nancy Adaline Naylor Jackson
